DATA Network, formerly known as Story Protocol, will abandon its own blockchain to migrate to the Sui ecosystem, supported by a $30 million investment from the Sui Foundation. The Trace registry, launched in June to track AI training data provenance and licensing, will join the Sui ecosystem. Walrus, a decentralized storage platform within the Sui ecosystem, will become the default storage layer for applications operated by DATA Foundation and its partners. The migration is justified by Sui’s ability to process millions of daily data registrations and Walrus’s capacity to store large training datasets. A detailed timeline and holder transition plan will be published prior to the upgrade.
