Crypto: South Korea Pursues 26 Polymarket Bettors for $12.7 Million in Wagers

South Korean police have opened criminal cases against 26 users of the Polymarket platform for illegal gambling. The cumulative wagers amount to 17.6 billion won, approximately $12.7 million, with a single bettor responsible for 5.7 billion won. Eighteen cases have already been referred to prosecutors. Investigators identified the bettors by cross-referencing public blockchain records and open-source intelligence (OSINT) without any cooperation from Polymarket. South Korean criminal law punishes habitual gamblers with up to three years in prison.
