The French National Assembly rejected Amendment I-3432 proposed by Socialist deputy Mickaël Bouloux, which sought to extend the exit tax to cryptocurrencies held directly by taxpayers leaving France. The measure would have applied to households owning more than 800,000 euros in crypto-assets, with a deferral mechanism allowing payment of the tax on unrealized gains to be postponed. The amendment would also have required taxpayers to have been resident in France for at least six of the ten years preceding their departure. It could return in another form, particularly through Nicolas Sansu’s proposal, which would add cryptocurrencies to the existing exit tax and calculate the threshold by adding shares and cryptocurrencies together. On 16 October, deputies also adopted an amendment to tax conversions of cryptocurrencies into certain stablecoins.
