The Confrontation Ghost operation, conducted from July to September under the coordination of the United Arab Emirates, brought together 30 countries, INTERPOL and 13 private companies to combat digital fraud, including AI-powered scams and sextortion. It led to more than 960 arrests, the dismantling of 29 scam centres, the closure of 570 social media accounts and the identification of 4,126 bank accounts linked to criminal activity. Authorities recorded more than 15,500 victims and located $39 billion in funds and cryptocurrencies linked to the networks, but the assets have not yet been seized or returned to victims. Investigators exchanged more than 9,000 pieces of information and used public blockchain records to trace the flows, while the absence of Cambodia, Laos and the United States was noted.
