Crude oil prices drop, WTI below $85, Brent under $91

Crude oil prices have declined significantly, with West Texas Intermediate dropping below $85 per barrel and Brent Crude falling below $91. This represents a decrease from early August when WTI traded at approximately $87.06 and Brent at $92.22. The U.S. Energy Information Administration had forecast Brent to average around $85 per barrel for the third quarter of 2026, and current prices now align with these expectations. Prediction markets indicate a low probability of crude oil reaching new all-time highs by the end of September.
