CoVolt Power, formed by the merger of Signal Energy and Applied High Voltage, filed an S-1 registration statement with the SEC on August 21 to list on the NYSE under the ticker KVLT. Based in Houston and employing over 1,000 people, the company has already connected more than 26.5 gigawatts to the grid. It is betting on the growing demand from data centers, which could consume up to 9% of total US electricity generation annually. The IPO timing is strategic: it aims to become a one-stop shop for hyperscalers and utilities alike, offering both solar generation and battery storage capabilities alongside high-voltage transmission and substation services.
