CoinShares does not expect Bitcoin to break above $80,000 this year. The firm attributes this bearish outlook to the Federal Reserve’s hawkish stance, having raised rates by 25 basis points for the first time since 2023, and to the failure of the CLARITY Act in the US Senate. Bitcoin currently trades near $78,040, approximately 2% below that threshold. CoinShares believes that persistent inflation, particularly driven by energy prices from Iran, gives the Fed little reason to soften its position. In contrast, VanEck’s head of digital assets research Matthew Sigel expects Bitcoin to reach $100,000 within a year, primarily supported by growing government debt burdens.
