Boston-based Code Metal has secured an $80 million contract with the Pentagon to modernize and AI-enable WarMatrix, the Department of War’s wargaming simulation environment. The process took less than 12 months, an unusually fast timeline for a defense contract, according to CEO Peter Morales. The company, valued at $1.25 billion in February when it closed its $125 million Series B led by Salesforce Ventures, currently employs 123 people and generates approximately 75% of its business from defense-related work. This contract is expected to significantly accelerate strategic analyses, reducing work that previously took months to just a few days.
