JPMorgan cuts banking ties with Polymarket over regulatory concerns

JPMorgan Chase quietly ended its banking relationship with prediction market platform Polymarket in 2025, instructing it to seek alternative banking arrangements. The bank notified Polymarket in October 2025, citing regulatory concerns stemming from the platform’s history with the CFTC, which fined it $1.4 million in 2022. Polymarket has since moved to an undisclosed lender and secured alternative banking arrangements without visible disruption to its operations. Despite the breakup, JPMorgan invited CEO Shayne Coplan to a private-client conference in February 2026 and signaled openness to underwriting a potential Polymarket IPO.
