Anthropic has launched a dedicated sessions hub in Claude Desktop, providing a unified view of all active sessions whether they run locally on the user’s machine or on Anthropic’s remote servers. Local sessions run directly on the device and pause when the application closes, while cloud sessions persist even after the app is shut down. The cloud functionality, currently in beta, is available to paid plan subscribers: Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise tiers. The rollout took place progressively between August and September 2026, with one notable constraint: switching between local and cloud environments mid-session is not possible.
