Circle, the issuer of the USDC stablecoin, has signed an agreement to acquire Tazapay, a Singapore-based B2B cross-border payments platform, for approximately 400 million dollars in class A common stock. The transaction, subject to regulatory approvals including from the Monetary Authority of Singapore, is expected to close in 2027. Tazapay brings over 25 billion dollars in annualized payment volume, more than 60 banking and fintech partners, and coverage across over 100 markets. The Singapore fintech, already a design partner of the Circle Payments Network since 2025, processes more than 60 percent of its volume in stablecoins. With this acquisition, Circle aims to make USDC the default payment rail for cross-border commerce, in a context where the stablecoin competes with Tether and its 183 billion dollars in USDT.
