Clearlake Capital has acquired full control of Chelsea by purchasing the stakes held by Todd Boehly and Mark Walter for approximately 950 million pounds, valuing the club at roughly 5 billion pounds including debt. This transaction ends a partnership that began in 2022, when the consortium bought the club from Roman Abramovich for approximately 2.5 billion pounds. Boehly also steps down as chairman, leaving Behdad Eghbali, co-founder of Clearlake, in charge of a club that finished 10th in the Premier League last season. No immediate changes to strategy or leadership are planned according to both parties.
