The European Commission formally designated ChatGPT, Reddit, and Roblox as platforms subject to the highest tier of the Digital Services Act regulation. ChatGPT becomes the first standalone artificial intelligence service to be classified as a Very Large Online Search Engine, while Reddit and Roblox were tagged as Very Large Online Platforms. All three exceeded the 45 million monthly active user threshold in the European Union: ChatGPT reached 159.1 million average monthly users, Reddit reported 57.2 million and Roblox between 46.6 and 48 million. These companies have until the end of December 2026 or January 2027 to comply with strict obligations, including annual risk assessments and independent audits, facing fines of up to 6% of their global annual revenue for non-compliance.
