Centrifuge, alongside co-authors Cain O’Sullivan and Jeroen Offerijns, has finalized the Ethereum standard ERC-8161, which achieved Final status on the Ethereum EIPs site on February 12, 2025. This standard extends ERC-7540 by allowing pending deposit and redeem requests in tokenized vaults to be transferred before settlement. It enables secondary markets for tokenized real-world assets, allowing users to transfer their spot in a redemption queue to another party. The standard builds on the request-claim split introduced in ERC-7540 in 2024 and requires ERC-165 and ERC-7540 for implementation. Centrifuge’s Tinlake platform, operational since November 2020, had previously established the foundation with its epoch-based request model designed for illiquid real-world assets.
