Private equity giants Carlyle and Bain Capital are competing for the acquisition of an independent wealth manager valued at approximately $7 billion. Carlyle recently acquired a majority stake in MAI Capital Management for over $2.8 billion and holds a significant position in CAPTRUST Financial Advisors alongside GTCR. Bain Capital owns approximately 29% of Carson Group, an Omaha-based wealth management firm overseeing about $55 billion in assets under management. This consolidation in the wealth management sector could significantly reshape how millions of Americans access crypto and digital asset services.
