Cardano Leios Plan Makes Higher Throughput a Series of Votes and Tests

Share

Input Output’s roadmap published on October 20 plans the gradual introduction of Leios beyond the hard fork, with Dijkstra, the registration of additional voting keys by stake pools and mainnet load exercises. The successive targets are to increase the current Praos throughput ceiling three to five times and then aim for ten to fifteen times that level, but these targets are expressed in transaction kilobytes per second and do not represent either a guaranteed number of payments or an activation date. Higher capacity will require governance-approved parameters, compatible software and published measurements from increasingly demanding tests. This staged rollout will allow the network’s propagation, node resilience and operator burden to be evaluated, while Cardano stablecoin liquidity and useful demand will determine how much of the available capacity is actually used.
