Brighton and Hove Albion are close to loaning their 21-year-old Irish striker Evan Ferguson to Genoa CFC in Serie A. Ferguson, whose contract runs until 2028, returns from a one-season loan at AS Roma where he made 16 appearances and scored 3 goals. Roma held a 40 million euro purchase option on the player and chose not to exercise it. Brighton are unwilling to sell the player at a discount and prefer to let him play elsewhere to help him rediscover the form that made him one of the most talked-about young strikers in English football between 2023 and 2024. The key parameters of any future deal will be the potential amount of a new option-to-buy clause and Ferguson’s goal tally in Italy.
