Block and Tesla continue to generate profits on their Bitcoin treasuries while many other corporate holders are facing unrealized losses. Tesla holds 11,509 BTC acquired at a cost basis of approximately $386 to $387 million, while Block owns roughly 9,117 BTC for an initial outlay of about $220 million. Both companies rank among the top 15 public companies by Bitcoin holdings. Tesla sold approximately 75% of its initial position in Q2 2022, keeping a leaner remainder with a lower average cost, and reported an $80 million gain in Q3 2025. Fair-value accounting rules, which require quarterly mark-to-market valuation of crypto assets, show that both positions remain valued above their original purchase prices.
