BlackRock’s share of ETF inflows drops to 55% amid rising competition

BlackRock’s share of US ETF inflows has fallen to 55%, down from roughly 80% just a few years ago, signaling a loosening grip by the traditional Big Three. In January 2026, total US ETF inflows reached an estimated $156 billion, with approximately $88 billion (over 56%) going to firms outside the traditional power trio. Vanguard captured around $49 billion while BlackRock’s iShares platform attracted only about $19 billion during the same period. BlackRock nonetheless reported $130 billion in total inflows in Q1 2026 and followed with $192 billion in Q2. By the end of 2025, BlackRock managed approximately $14 trillion in assets under management, with iShares ETFs accounting for over $5.4 trillion of that figure.
