Black Hills commits $1.8 billion to power Google’s Cheyenne data center

Black Hills Corp has signed an agreement with Google to build 564 MW of natural gas generation capacity at the Cheyenne Prairie Generating Station in Wyoming. The investment totals $1.8 billion between 2027 and 2029, fully funded by Google. The utility will also manage 2.1 GW of third-party resources through a private microgrid, bringing the total energy mix to 2.7 GW. The deal is projected to add approximately $150 million in net income by 2030 and generate roughly $2.4 billion in unlevered free cash flow through 2048. BKH shares rose approximately 5% following the announcement.
