Bitcoin’s social volume hit a 14-day high on September 15, 2026, the same day the U.S. Senate rejected the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act by a 49-50 vote, falling just 11 votes short of the 60 needed to advance the legislation. This legislative defeat pushed Bitcoin below $76,000, after already declining roughly 5% from a peak near $79,500. The CLARITY Act, which passed the House in July 2025 by a 294-134 margin, aimed to clarify the division of authority between the CFTC and SEC over crypto assets. Prediction markets collapsed the probability of this bill becoming law in 2026 to single digits.
