Japanese exchange GMO Coin may suspend several Bitcoin services when eCash takes its first balance snapshot at block 963,648, expected around midnight Japan time on Aug. 23. eCash is a new Bitcoin-derived chain planning to credit holders with a separate asset called ECX, with three deployment stages: Alpha (August), Beta (September) and Mainnet (October). The contemplated suspension covers spot trading, leveraged services, as well as BTC deposits and withdrawals. The exchange has not confirmed a specific timeline, while opt-in replay protection and thin liquidity could increase transfer risks. Neither GMO nor eCash have altered users’ existing BTC, but early chain instability could lead to transaction reversals.
