Bitcoin Fell After Four US Midterms: Could 2026 Break the Pattern?

Bitcoin declined after each of the last four US midterm elections, with drops of 72% in 2010, 65% in 2014, 52% in 2018, and 27% in 2022, according to analyst Ali Martinez. The fourth quarter of midterm years has also been volatile, with BTC gaining 391% in Q4 2010 but falling 16.7% in 2014, 42.16% in 2018, and 14.75% in 2022. The $73,000 area is identified as a key support zone, representing the short-term holder cost basis. Bitcoin is currently trading between the 50-week moving average near $77,600 and the 100-week moving average around $89,700. Traders « bee » and Doctor Profit anticipate a possible pullback toward $75,000-$79,000 before the next major bullish move.
