Cryptocurrency exchange Binance announced it will suspend deposits and withdrawals on the Base network around 17:00 UTC on September 30, 2026, to support the Cobalt upgrade and hard fork of this layer 2 network incubated by Coinbase. The network upgrade and hard fork are expected around 18:00 UTC on the same day. Trading of tokens on the Base network will not be impacted, as Binance will handle all technical requirements for its users. The Cobalt upgrade improves the B20 token standard, introduces validity transactions, enables dynamic node upgrades, and migrates TEE signer registration to onchain attestation verification. Deposits and withdrawals will be reopened once the upgraded network is deemed stable, without a separate announcement.
