Binance expects to resume its withdrawal services within 48 hours after a precautionary suspension designed to carry out security checks. Deposits remain operational, while the exchange estimates that 6.3 billion dollars was stolen in the largest hack ever recorded in the crypto industry. The theft included 3.74 billion dollars of assets on Ethereum, 1.47 billion dollars in 18,270.2 BTC and 627 million dollars of assets on TRON. Binance and its partners have already frozen about 2.8 billion dollars, but 3.27 billion dollars in BTC and ETH remained transferable according to analyst Dickson Wu. The attack was attributed to North Korea’s TraderTraitor, who gained access to Binance’s internal infrastructure through a compromised DevOps engineer’s laptop.
