Hargreaves Lansdown, Britain’s largest investment platform, now offers Bitcoin products to approximately 2 million clients, but five months after the closure of a 180-day tax-free window. Access is restricted to investors earning 100,000 pounds annually or holding 250,000 pounds in savings, with fees ranging from 0% to 0.35% per year. These products, issued by BlackRock, Invesco and CoinShares, do not allow direct ownership of Bitcoin but rather track its price through financial notes. Investments must be made through a taxable account or pension scheme, as the popular ISA tax-free wrapper remains closed to new Bitcoin purchases. An investor who placed 20,000 pounds in a tax-advantaged account could have doubled their capital tax-free, facing a tax bill of approximately 4,080 pounds in a standard account.
