Bermuda has selected WalletConnect to expand digital asset payments across the island, with PTIX becoming the first merchant on the system. Ticket payments are expected to go live in the second quarter of 2027 on the Stellar network through WalletConnect Pay. Bermuda’s merchants currently face card processing fees of 3% to 5%, potentially reaching 10% in some cases, while PTIX’s exact fees under the new system have not been disclosed. The rollout is part of the island’s broader objective to move salaries, government fees, and other economic activity onchain.
