Base, Coinbase’s Ethereum Layer-2 solution, has launched Vibenet, an ephemeral developer preview network featuring three major upgrades. The Flashblocks system, developed in collaboration with Flashbots, enables block preconfirmations in just 200 milliseconds, compared to the current 2 seconds. The EIP-8130 protocol introduces account abstraction directly at the protocol level, eliminating the need for the ERC-4337 smart contract layer. According to Base’s figures, simple USDC transfers on this implementation cost approximately 63% less than on ERC-4337. The Denim upgrade, targeted for late August 2026, will transform these preconfirmations into full canonical 200-millisecond blocks.
