Base invites projects to tokenize non-US equities from global markets

Share

Coinbase’s Layer-2 network Base has issued an open call to builders to tokenize equities from local stock markets that are difficult for foreign investors to access. This initiative follows the August 2026 launch of tokenized US equities including Nvidia, Apple, Meta, and Alphabet, backed 1:1 by real shares custodied at Alpaca under ADGM regulation in Abu Dhabi. The B20 standard enables 24/7 trading, dividend management, and full DeFi composability, with approximately $4.5 million minted on day one. The tokens are available only to eligible non-US persons under Regulation S, and the program specifically targets emerging markets where investment barriers are significant. This crowdsourced builder approach allows Base to coordinate regulatory compliance across multiple jurisdictions while enabling these tokenized assets to be used as collateral in lending protocols or liquidity pools.
