FC Barcelona has made Castello Lukeba their top priority to reinforce their central defense after Ronald Araujo’s loan move to Liverpool. The Catalan captain joined the English club with a purchase option of 55 million euros. Lukeba, a 23-year-old French international, has been playing for Leipzig since 2023 after an initial fee of 34 million euros, with a contract running until June 2029, giving the German club significant leverage in negotiations. Arsenal and Manchester United are also in the race, with valuations ranging between 35 and 70 million euros. No agreement had been reached by mid-August 2026.
