AUSTRAC, Australia’s anti-money laundering regulator, suspended Cryptolink Pty Ltd’s registration, taking 96 crypto ATMs offline starting August 9, 2026. The operator had previously received a fine of 56,340 Australian dollars in October 2025 for inadequate reporting and risk assessment practices. AUSTRAC data reveals that users over 50 accounted for 72% of total transaction value at these machines, with 29% coming from the 60-to-70 age group. Australia’s crypto ATM sector experienced remarkable growth, expanding from 23 machines in 2019 to approximately 1,800 today, with annual volumes reaching around 275 million Australian dollars. In July 2025, AUSTRAC imposed a hard cap of 5,000 Australian dollars per cash transaction across all crypto ATM providers nationwide.
