Audi CEO Gernot Dollner defended the $4 billion Georgia plant project, which is due to produce Q7, Q8 and Q9 SUVs from the early 2030s. The facility could produce up to 200,000 vehicles annually, with roughly half exported. The automaker aims to reduce its exposure to U.S. tariffs, currently set at 15% on vehicles imported from Germany, and expand sales in the world’s second-largest premium market. Those tariffs cost Audi 1.2 billion euros last year. The project comes amid Volkswagen Group’s restructuring, which includes plans to cut 50,000 jobs and close four German plants between 2031 and 2034.
