Someone withdrew $319 million in Bitcoin from Blockstream’s Liquid network on Sunday, paying just 21 cents in fees. The operation moved 3,996 BTC, representing 95% of the network’s reserves, to an unknown address before a message was left on the blockchain claiming the authors were white hats. Nevertheless, the Liquid network maintained its peg: L-BTC tokens remain fully backed, with a surplus of 0.22 BTC. Blockstream, which has not commented, is the only entity capable of authorizing such transfers through its federation of 15 companies requiring 11 signatures.
