OpenAI’s Astra model achieved a score of 169 on the Epoch Capabilities Index, a composite benchmark spanning over 37 evaluations in math, coding, science, and agentic tasks, surpassing GPT-5 (150) and Claude 3.5 Sonnet (130). Astra notably recorded a perfect 100% on ExploitBench, a cybersecurity evaluation testing the ability to identify and exploit software vulnerabilities, along with 98% on FrontierMath Tier 4 and 99.9% on ARC-AGI-3 for abstract reasoning. Astra also became the first OpenAI model to reach the Critical tier under its own Preparedness Framework for cybersecurity, demonstrating autonomous capabilities to discover zero-day vulnerabilities and execute exploit chaining without human intervention.
