Anthropic tripled its headcount over the past year. The share of junior employees on technical teams fell from 21% to 14% since early 2025, with junior hiring dropping from 27% to 9%. By August 2026, Claude agents were logging six times the work hours of human staff. Approximately one-third of machine learning managers and one-fifth of software engineering managers said they had reduced hiring because of AI use.
