A researcher used Anthropic’s Claude Science AI workbench to produce the first complete map of the sky in ultraviolet light. The method did not involve a new telescope but rather merged existing ultraviolet datasets and filled in the regions that earlier surveys had never covered. Claude Science, launched on June 30, 2026, bundles several research stages including data analysis, experiment planning and scientific writing into one reproducible environment. NASA’s GALEX data, published in 2010, covered approximately 75% of the sky in two ultraviolet bands. Anthropic has not publicly named the scientist or listed the specific datasets that went into the final map.
