Anthropic will publish in the coming weeks an analysis of the pace of its artificial intelligence progress and how it is tracking against its Responsible Scaling Policy. According to the independent organization METR, the capabilities of Anthropic’s models are improving roughly 1.9 times faster than between March 2024 and October 2025, primarily because AI is assisting researchers. The value of internal model usage grew more than 250-fold between January and September 2026, while research and development spending reached $19.2 billion during the first nine months of 2026. The company, which is preparing a potential initial public offering targeted for November 2026, updated its safety policy in February 2026 and is expected to clarify whether its latest models have crossed thresholds that trigger stronger safeguards.
