Ripple CTO Emeritus and XRP Ledger architect David Schwartz personally exposed a fake airdrop scam on social network X. The scam was being promoted through a hacked account of culture magazine NplusOneMag, with fraudsters impersonating crypto wallet Xaman. Schwartz directly entered the scammers’ thread and posted memes identifying the fraud, which triggered a wave of user reports and led to the rapid suspension of accounts impersonating Xaman. Scammers exploit hidden trading offers through NFT spam campaigns to completely drain XRP balances from unsuspecting users.
