Animoca Brands co-founder Yat Siu presented his vision at WebX 2026 in Tokyo, arguing that autonomous AI systems will need their own crypto wallets and ownership frameworks to avoid a future where users become mere tenants in centralized platforms. He estimates that 50 to 100 billion AI agents could emerge in the near future, compared to roughly 8 billion humans on Earth. Without ownership infrastructure, the economic value generated by these agents would flow back to the platforms hosting them rather than to the users they serve. Animoca Brands is already testing this thesis internally through a division called Animoca Minds, which currently operates hundreds of AI agents. The event, organized by CoinPost at The Prince Park Tower Tokyo, drew 13,641 participants from over 90 countries.
