A Bitcoin wallet dormant since November 2011 transferred its entire 40 BTC balance worth $3.09 million on September 3, 2026, generating a gain of over 2.5 million percent from an initial investment of approximately $120 when Bitcoin traded at roughly $3 per coin. The wallet, identified as « Noah Doe 38097, » is tied to a major class-action lawsuit filed in New York targeting 39,069 dormant Bitcoin addresses representing 3.7 to 3.8 million BTC, worth approximately $293 billion. Galaxy Research highlighted the implications of this transaction for the ongoing litigation, noting that the receiving address has not been linked to any exchange or known custodian, suggesting a transfer to another personal wallet rather than a sale. If the entirety of the BTC targeted by the lawsuit were released back into circulation following a court order, it would represent a supply shock of nearly 20 percent of Bitcoin’s total circulating supply of 19.7 million coins.
