America’s renter generation is trying to build wealth by investing in stocks instead of owning a house

Natalie and Dan Slagle, financial planners based in Portland, Oregon, decided not to buy a home despite being able to afford roughly $6,000 per month in mortgage payments, or about 20% of their income. With a purchase budget of around $940,000, the houses available at that price did not meet their expectations. After submitting two offers and being outbid, they chose to invest in stocks instead of real estate to build wealth.
