Amazon’s Andy Jassy sees a $1 trillion cloud built on businesses like the PGA Tour—which swapped its server trucks for AI broadcasts

Amazon CEO Andy Jassy said Thursday during the second-quarter earnings call that he believes AWS could very possibly become a $1 trillion annual revenue business. AWS revenue hit $42.2 billion in Q2, a 37.6% jump from a year earlier, the division’s fastest growth rate in 18 quarters. The unit is now running at a $169 billion annualized clip, with a customer backlog of $496 billion. The PGA Tour, sponsored by AWS, illustrates this transformation: the organization no longer ships servers on trucks from one golf course to another, but now uses an agentic AI platform on Amazon Bedrock to generate content and automated commentary in just nine minutes.
