Ox Alpha, an anonymous reasoning model designed for coding, launched on August 20 on OpenRouter, OpenCode, Cline, and Nous Research’s portal. On an initial 10-task DeepSWE sample, Ox Alpha scored 80% versus Claude Fable 5’s 65% and GPT-5.6 Sol’s 52%, but two full runs on 113 tasks showed a score of approximately 63%, roughly on par with GPT-5.6 Sol. The model, free for about a week, processes up to one million tokens per context window and accepts text, image, and video inputs. Independent analysis found exact matches between Ox Alpha’s tokenizer and Zhipu AI’s GLM-5.3 family, suggesting the Chinese lab is behind the project. Stripe CEO Patrick Collison, whose company agreed to acquire OpenRouter on August 19, called the model very impressive.
