Bdautomated published a free reference page tracing 75 widely quoted statistics about AI agents back to their original sources. The analysis reveals that the numbers disagree because they count different things: according to McKinsey, 62 percent of organizations are experimenting with AI agents but only 10 percent use them in any single department, while PwC reports that 79 percent of U.S. executives say agents are being adopted. The Census Bureau found 19.8 percent of U.S. businesses using AI in any function as of May 2026. MIT Project NANDA’s finding that 95 percent of organizations get zero return was measured within six months of a pilot in a sample of 52 interviews, 153 conference survey responses and 300 public deployments, with the authors calling the findings preliminary.
