Abu Dhabi’s national oil company ADNOC announced on November 2, 2026, a partnership with G42 and OpenAI that makes it the first energy company to deploy OpenAI’s frontier AI technology. The agreement will give ADNOC access to OpenAI’s most advanced models through G42, including agentic AI systems capable of carrying out multi-step tasks. ADNOC plans to apply the technology first to its upstream operations, extending the ENERGYai platform developed with AIQ, a G42 and Presight subsidiary, under a three-year contract worth $340 million. Initial use cases include seismic interpretation and production forecasting, areas that could improve drilling decisions and reduce costly errors. The partnership is part of the United Arab Emirates’ strategy to become a global hub for AI infrastructure and services, with the Stargate UAE project whose first phase includes a 200 MW compute cluster planned for 2026.
