Midnight’s experimental Ethereum vault keeps the underlying ERC20 tokens on Ethereum, while withdrawals are represented by shielded claims on Midnight. A withdrawal burns the claim first, requires a threshold signature produced through a multiparty computation service, and then needs an authenticated outcome attestation before settlement. Even after a failed transfer, the shielded claim can be restored only following a verified and flushed attestation, so a missing service response does not by itself trigger a refund. The signing service does not broadcast the transaction: the decentralized application or relayer must assemble and submit it to Ethereum. Charles Hoskinson welcomed Tron on October 21, but SIG’s Ethereum integration remains on the stagenet test network; the roadmap targets Tron for December 2026, while Ethereum mainnet deployment remains tied to ledger version 9.
