Injective, a layer-1 blockchain, halted block production for nearly four hours on Aug. 31 to respond to an exploit estimated at $4.9 million. The foundation deployed an emergency patch and maintained that its consensus, native INJ token, and staked assets were not compromised. Researchers found the vulnerability originated from core protocol modules, including exchange and insurance modules, rather than solely from third-party applications. Exchanges including Coinbase and Coins.ph temporarily restricted transfers during the incident. The attacker-linked wallet still holds approximately $4.9 million in bridged ETH, while Injective maintains that its users were not affected.
