Ripple contributed to a white paper commissioned by the Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA), focused on the conditions needed to responsibly scale tokenised financial assets and their market infrastructure, particularly within the Dubai International Financial Centre. The publication brings together contributions from leaders at BlackRock, Standard Chartered, Robinhood, Ripple and the DFSA. According to Reece Merrick, Ripple’s Managing Director for the Middle East and Africa, the main shift lies in using tokenised treasuries and money market funds as collateral in repo and margin transactions without first redeeming them into cash. Merrick forecasts substantial growth in these use cases over the next 12 months, with a significant portion taking place on the XRP Ledger, amid regulatory frameworks, institutional custody and trusted settlement assets such as RLUSD. Market-size estimates vary considerably: Citi Institute projects a global market of $5.5 trillion in tokenised financial assets by 2030, while a study by Standard Chartered and Synpulse estimates potential demand at $30.1 trillion by 2034.
