Bets were placed shortly before two political polls from The New York Times and Siena were released, according to a report. Vanderbilt University researchers said a Polymarket user wagered nearly $200,000 on October 31 that Nebraska Senator Pete Ricketts would be re-elected. An hour later, a Times/Siena poll showed Ricketts in the lead, and the user won more than $77,000. The user also placed similarly large bets on other markets, including Kalshi, circumstances that Brett Goldstein of the Vanderbilt Institute for National Security said warrant further investigation. Polymarket said it detected the trades and is investigating, while Kalshi declined to comment.
