YMTC Targets 70% Domestic Equipment for Its Fourth Memory Chip Fab

Share

Yangtze Memory Technologies Co., China’s largest flash memory maker, plans to source at least 60% of the equipment for its fourth factory from domestic suppliers, with a stretch goal of 70%. The new fab in Wuhan is expected to break ground next year, compared with just over half Chinese-made equipment at the company’s third plant. YMTC currently operates two fabs with a combined capacity of approximately 200,000 wafers per month and could double its output through the new facilities. Phase 3 is expected to begin operations by late 2026 and ramp up to 100,000 wafers per month, while two additional fabs remain under consideration. The projects could create substantial demand for Chinese equipment makers, but their progress will depend partly on access to capital and regulatory conditions.
